The supply chain and manufacturing processes are based on the Holistic approach. All parts of the processes support the whole, if one part is missing or not performing the process stops functioning.
A holistic approach to a business's Internet presences is also necessary. In this case I consider The Whole to be a web site which supports business requirements.
To develop an Internet presence from conception to the development and promotion of a web site, requires an endless array of elements and skills, all of which must fit and work together to complete

The Web Site
Content is the foundation of the web site. Content is why you have web site visitors, it is the only reason.
Content must be developed for humans first and Search engines second. Since Search Engines are looking for natural content, it seems to reason content created for humans will meet the criteria of the Search Engine in terms of relevance. The keywords within content must be chosen wisely to naturally integrated into the content, and achieve reasonable Search Engine visibility.
Hopefully, we have developed web site content where the message is relevant, the content engages and provides the right information and processes at the right time.
To achieve this has required various skills and elements working together to create the whole. From Web Developers and Graphic Designers, to Search Optimization Consultants and Copywriters, all have done their part.
The Web Site Promotion
I say
"The real work starts when the site goes live." A business can not rely on “Build it and they will come”.
As with the Web development process, the promotion process also requires numerous elements and skills to succeed in supporting
The Whole.
The market place is tremendously competitive through the entire business / consumer interaction environment. This is the reason why a Holistic approach to web site promotion is necessary.
Sure I could rely on Search Optimization, Paid Clicks
or Social, but why would I depend on only one technique when I can interact with consumers through all of these techniques, or any other promotional techniques.
All these disciplines bring other specialists to the program some of who could be; Copy Writers, Marketing and
Public Relations professionals. To make the promotion program a success all these people have to develop and integrate their elements to ensure support of The Whole.
Last Word
There is no shortage of individuals who see their online promotion technique as the only requirement to ensure the Business's Online initiatives meet the company's objectives.
However, there does seem to be a shortage of individuals who are willing to work with other professional disciplines to achieve an effective high performance web site through a Holistic approach..
