Improving Keyword Research

Keyword Research Tools

Well finally new keyword research tools which actually offers something new and expands on the current offerings. I was fortunate enough to have a pre-release trial of Wordstream's two new Free Keyword Tools The Keyword Niche Finder and The Keyword Grouper and was impressed that they in fact offered me functionality which has been lacking in many of the keyword research tools currently available.

So many of the Keyword Research tools available are essentially the same, completing the same tasks, with similar results. I'm not saying the existing tools are not useful far from it, I depend on many of these tools to complete my keyword research however, most leave me with many tasks which I must complete manually to complete my keyword investigations to my satisfaction.

Not quite the ultimate keyword research tool, but close

Although I have yet to find the perfect keyword tool The Keyword Niche Finder and The Keyword Grouper go along way towards automating some of the basic Keyword Research tasks I consider important to both Organic Search Engine Optimization and Pay Per Click Campaigns. The only thing missing is in-depth competitive analysis, once this is integrated into these products I am sure they will be in a league of their own.

Its all about organization

Regardless of whether you're using keyword tools, or completing Keyword Research tasks manually, without effective organization the lists created of are little use. I have for quite some time been promoting the development of keyword lists which are categorized into Main and Sub Groupings and building both Organic and Paid Search Campaigns around these keyword groupings, this is something these tools do exceptionally well.

The Keyword Niche Finder

In many ways the Keyword Niche Finder is similar to current offerings of keyword suggestion tools. However, where this tool stands out is the results are provided in niche groups which are already segmented and by simply clicking on one of the niche sectors provides and excellent selection of primarily long tail keywords directly related to your the primary keyword you entered into the tool.

The image below is a prime example of how the Keyword Niche Finder works.

The Keyword Grouper

The Keyword Grouper works in a similar fashion to the Niche Finder however, the difference here is the tool assists you to group your existing keyword lists into relevant topical groupings. The primary advantage of developing topical themes around a primary topic is the improvement in relevancy for both Pay Per Click and Organic Search Engine Optimization programs. Relevancy is important to the success of both types of promotional activities.

To group your existing keyword lists simply copy and past into the online form:

The results of your keyword input is filtered into groupings which you can then integrate into your PPC or Organic SEO program.

The Last Word

I cannot emphasis the importance of integrating keyword groupings into your PPC and Organic SEO Programs. Groupings improve how Search Engines interpret the content of your ad copy and content. Introducing the use of topical groupings assists to improve the relevance and authority of your web page and ad campaign both key factors in both PPC and SEO. These two new offerings from Wordstream go along way to introducing this concept and are a valuable tool in your SEO Toolbox.

I look forward to future offerings from Wordstream and do hope they will eventually integrate competitive analysis in the Keyword Research Tools they provide.
